Fifth Class

Ms. Ní Cheallaigh & Ms. Pearson’s 5th class students have been busy studying the 1916 Easter Rising.
They researched, drafted, edited, then published their own reports. The girls created a comic strip based on the events and painted their own copy of the Proclamation of Independence. They also learned the beautiful song ‘Grace,’.
We read a novel based on those times, called ‘The Guns of Easter.’ The girls summarised each chapter and also wrote their own book review.
While at our school tour on Spike Island we also saw some memorabilia from the Easter Rising.

Last month, Ms. Ní Cheallaigh & Ms. Pearson’s 5th class students studied in great detail, The Irish Famine.
The following is a small sample of their excellent hard work which includes researching- drafting-editing-publishing reports, book reviews, charcoal drawings and clay construction pieces.
